Let the Bidding War Begin; Who Will be the Lucky Manufacturer of these Golf Balls, Clubs, Shafts,…..
Forget about a potential long putter ban for a moment and let’s discuss some real golf news. The type that may shake up the industry. Are you familiar with the up and coming golf mogul Onika Tanya Maraj? No, how about Nicki Minaj? Apparently Nicki Minaj is not her given name; surprise!
This month Onika signed paperwork on behalf of Little Miss Mogul, LLC to register the NICKI MINAJ trademark in association with:
I can’t wait to purchase my first NICKI MINAJ brand golf balls and whack them around the course with my new NICKI MINAJ brand golf clubs outfitted with the latest NICKI MINAJ brand shafts and sink a few long putts with my NICKI MINAJ brand putter, while carrying everything in my NICKI MINAJ brand golf bag! After listing virtually every golf product in the application they did not include golf grips. It is very disappointing to learn that no NICKI MINAJ brand golf grips are on the drawing boards
She probably just wants to get out of the entertainment industry and follow her true love, designing golf products.
Actually, it sounds like a perfect fit for Cobra Golf; she could perform in their booth at the PGA Show. That would draw a crowd.
Could Little Miss Mogul, LLC really have an “intent” to use the NICKI MINAJ mark on all those golf products? If so it is time for Onika to get some new business advisors.
Now for the trademark attorneys reading this post; yes, Onika, aka Nicki, is the one that actually signed the form bona fide intent-to-use declaration. Wouldn’t it be fun to read a deposition transcript questioning her about subjective intent and objective corroboration of the intent as of the time the application was filed?
OK, get back to the long putter debate!
