How Many Strokes Are You Losing Due to Your Foot Positioning ?

Three months ago I would have dismissed this invention as ridiculous. Since that time I took my first “on-course” lesson with the local teaching pro and another hacker. Turns out the other hacker  had a tendency to flair out the toes on his rear foot and roll his back foot during the backswing. The pro had him square up his back foot and all of a sudden half his problems disappeared. That tip alone was worth the price of the lesson.

After seeing such a dramatic change in a golfer based solely on foot orientation I suspect there may be some merit to the simple invention disclosed in a recently published patent application US Pub. No. 20120108352 titled “Golf Shoe Marking Device.” The patent application describes the invention as:

Apparatuses for and methods of applying alignment markings to shoes are provided. One such method comprises overlaying a first alignment template over a first shoe, the first alignment template having first indicia associated with a predetermined stance, marking the first shoe adjacent to the first indicia, removing the first alignment template, utilizing the marking on the first shoe to provide a first alignment stripe on the first shoe, overlaying a second alignment template over a second shoe, the second alignment template having second indicia associated with the predetermined stance, marking the second shoe adjacent to the second indicia, and utilizing the marking on the second shoe to provide a second alignment stripe on the second athletic shoe.

Not bad!
