Would You Believe That Lee Trevino Is An Inventor On 5 Patents!

Lee Trevino is famous for being a great charismatic golfer that gave us plenty of memorable one-liners. A few of my favorite are:

"If you are caught on a golf course during a storm and are afraid of lightning, hold up a 1-iron. Not even God can hit a 1-iron."

"You can talk to a fade but a hook won't listen."

"I'm in the woods so much I can tell you which plants are edible."

Did you know that Lee is also an inventor? In fact, he is listed as an inventor on 5 US patents.

OK, truth be told, the patents look to cover one actual invention (described in the utility patent) that is implemented in four different design patents (covering a 3, 5, 7, and 9 wood). Check them out.

a) USPN 5785609 titled “Golf Club Head”

b) USPN D399289 titled “Fairway Wood Golf Club Head”

c) USPN D401989 titled “Fairway Wood Golf Club Head”

d) USPN D402339 titled “Fairway Wood Golf Club Head”

e) USPN D402340 titled “Fairway Wood Golf Club Head”

The invention is directed to a concave sole feature for fairway woods.

Congratulations Lee (and I know a patent lawyer that will work for free if you can get him playing scratch golf).
