Ahh, There’s My Problem; My Huge Driver Does Not Look Ridiculous Enough
Today a patent application published that makes me wonder whether the inventor has ever actually played golf. The application published as US Pub. No. 20090203466 titled “Golf Club Head” and describes the invention as:
The present invention discloses a golf club head, particularly a club head structure for driving a golf ball, and the golf club head includes a club head body and a striking surface, and the striking surface is substantially in a hemispherical shape or a semicircular tubular shape, such that the golf ball also has a circular contact surface for producing a reaction force during a collision with each other to produce an explosive force at a ball striking point and drive the golf ball to a farther driving distance and enhance the practicability and value of the golf club head structure.
Check out these driver designs! I want to meet the golfer that can hit this first design.
I will let the application explain the “explosive” “reaction force.”
[0006] Therefore, it is a primary objective of the present invention to provide a golf club head, and particularly a club head structure for a drive of the golf ball, wherein the golf club head comprises a club head body and a striking surface. The striking surface is substantially in a hemispherical shape or a semicircular tubular shape, such that the contact surface is also in a circular shape as the golf ball to produce a reaction force to give an explosive force at the ball striking point (which is similar to a baseball bat and a baseball), and the golf ball can be driven to a farther driving distance to enhance the practicability and value of the product.
[0007] To make it easy for our examiner to understand the objective, advantages and performance of the present invention, we use preferred embodiments accompanied with related drawings for the detailed description of the present invention as follows. In FIG. 3, the invention provides a club head structure for driving a golf ball, wherein the club head 20 is substantially a hollow casing having a body of a golf club head 20 with a striking surface 21, and the striking surface 21 is a slightly curved hemispherical structure. In FIG. 4, the golf ball 12 is placed on a tee 13 and supported at an appropriate height above a green 14. During a drive, a hemispherical shape striking surface 21 on a lateral side of the club head 20 strikes a golf ball 12, such that the golf ball 12 is in contact with the striking surface 21 to produce an explosive force at a ball striking point for achieving a better driving distance.
[0008] Referring to FIG. 5 for a feasible structure in accordance with another preferred embodiment of the invention, the club head 30 is substantially a hollow casing having a striking surface 31 on a lateral side of the body of the golf club head 30, and the striking surface 31 is a semicircular tubular structure with a curvature along a transversal direction.
[0009] Referring to FIG. 6 for another feasible structure of the invention, the club head 40 is substantially a hollow casing having a striking surface 41 on a lateral side of the body of the golf club head 40, and the striking surface 41 is a semicircular tubular structure with a curvature along a longitudinal direction.
Really? I would have to meet the salesperson that could sell this club (if they exist).
