Adjustable Bounce Wedges; Who Did it Better?
This week Acushnet had a patent application published directed to a “reversible sole” iron design. The application published as US Pub. No. The present invention is directed to a golf club having a reversible sole member. The reversible sole member provides a plurality of bounce contours. The user may select one of the plurality of bounce contours and orient the sole member so that the selected bounce contour forms the sole contour of the golf club head.
Now, go revisit last year’s post titled “Forget About Replacing the Face of Your Wedge,” which describes Bridgestone Golf’s stab at adjustable bounce wedges.
Then, go revisit the 2010 post about a Nike Golf design that would allow a golfer to switch their cavity back irons to muscle backs irons, as well as change a club head’s bounce.
So, who did it better? Acushnet, of course. The reversible aspect is genius!
