Day 5 of 2020’s Golf Product Buzzwords; The Balls Edition
The first 4 days of the “2020’s Golf Product Buzzwords” have been directed to product and technology names associated with clubs, which means it is time to address golf ball product and technology names we may see in 2020.
In the “Day 4” post I mentioned the importance of product names that promote intrigue. Well, I find today’s name intriguing, but it may be for the wrong reasons. The name is TeeBird, and the company intends to use the name in association with golf balls.
So, for me the intrigue isn’t so much tied to the name but rather the company trying to protect the name. It will be interesting to see how they plan to use the mark — it is hard to imagine that it would be a product name or a name used to describe a “technology.” It just sticks out because it isn’t inline with the company’s naming history/strategy.
So, take a guess as to the OEM that intends to use the TeeBird mark. Let me know in the comments.
This bit of competitive IP research brought to you by the trademark office and the following trademark application:

Can’t wait to see if and how they use the name, but my bet would be that it never sees the light of day.
